2015 EYE CLINIC PROJECT
The project provided a team of optometrists who screened 1,000 patients.
CLT, Inc., in partnership with Restoring Vision in San Rafael, CA and Van-J Optical Services, Ghana, conducted multiple-day Eye Clinics in Suma Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region and Atimpoku in the Eastern Region, Ghana. Restoring Vision provided the eyeglasses are no charge to CLT, and Van-J Optical Services in Ghana provided optometrists to screen and prescribe the eyeglasses. The village residents we attended to cannot afford eye care. The optometrists screened 1,000 patients and provided brand-new eyeglasses (free of charge) to correct presbyopia. Presbyopia affects most adults over the age of 40. In rural areas of developing nations, those who experience the increased severity of presbyopia, have great difficulty performing some of the everyday necessary tasks that are required by jobs such as sewing, cooking, winnowing grain, sorting rice, etc. This project helped address that obstacle for many adults.
