2019 Cardiology Clinic Construction

Setting up a phase 1 cardiology diagnostics and treatment clinic facility.

There is no full-service Cardiovascular Heart Disease (CHD) facility in the Northern half of Ghana. Patients in this part of the country, with average household incomes of $2 per day, will have to travel 10 to 15 hours, to access services. Most cannot afford to make the trip, and the few who can, have to wait several months for an appointment. The resulting impacts of not having these services have resulted in countless fatalities. Therefore, CLT is working with the medical community in that part of the country, to develop a sustainable solution to address this problem. CLT, together with one of the existing hospitals in the area, is setting up a Phase 1 cardiology diagnostics and treatment clinic facility. This is a 2 part project. The first part involved the repurposing and remodeling of 5 rooms to house the clinic. The demolition and construction involved dismantling a leaky roof and ceiling, removing deteriorated doors and windows, and demolishing portions of the building that were not secure. Following that, a new roof and ceiling were installed, new doors and windows have been fitted, all the concrete work has been completed, new flooring was installed and painting of the facility has been completed. A separate project that will focus on equipment procurement and installation is anticipated to be completed in a couple of years.
