The program's goal is to reduce the infant and maternal mortality rates and to increase the current survival rate of 1 in 20 patients (for treatable illnesses) in the Jaman North District in Ghana. The program focuses on providing a sustainable approach to delivering both the medical and eye care assistance. These healthcare components involve doing the following.
Our program addresses the core challenges preventing children from obtaining a strong basic education, which is a critical component for fighting poverty. We provide tuition sponsorships for children whilst addressing infrastructure needs by repairing damaged buildings and building new classroom infrastructure.
Each year, an estimated 4 billion cases of diarrhea result in an approximately 2 million deaths, mostly among children. Waterborne bacterial infections may account for as many as half of these episodes and deaths (source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - CDC). Our Potable Water program focuses on drilling potable water wells and installing water distribution systems
There is one remaining project planned for 2013. This Fall our Annual Eye Clinic will take place. CLT will partner with Van J Optical Clinic to conduct free eye clinics in Suma Ahrenko, Ghana. It is a 3 day Eye Clinic in Suma Ahrenko to provide eye care for presbyopia patients. Approximately 250 patients will be screened and provided with brand new eye glasses, at no cost to them.
Changing Lives Together (CLT) Inc. is a Christian, charitable, non-profit organization located in Folsom, CA. Our mission is to provide sustainable economic development, through humanitarian projects, to alleviate poverty, for impoverished communities in rural Ghana.
In doing so, we share God's love by serving people in practical ways.
